I feel truly honored and delighted to receive the 2007 Careers in Aviation - National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees Scholarship. Awarding this scholarship means a lot to me and gives me additional motivation in pursuing my education and future career.

As a child, I was raised by my mother without the love of my father, who passed away. Growing up, I realized my responsibly to my family on behalf of my father. I gave up my education and started to work in able to support myself and my family.

Having worked for Vietnam Airlines and Qatar Airways, I have lived in Thailand and the State of Qatar for more than seven years. I have learned the Thai language in able to communicate with non-English speaking customers. While living in both countries, I adapted myself to the differences in traditions, weather, and cultures.   All of these experiences have helped to shape me. I have faced many challenges in my life and overcame emotional and personal difficulties.

After eleven years of working, my desire was to pursue my education.  I have the opportunity to study towards a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics and double minors in Management and International Relations while also raising my fourteen months old daughter, managing my family, and expecting another baby in March, 2008.

It is a privilege to be recognized for my hard work, and receiving this scholarship motivates me to continue to excel in academics as I work towards finishing my Bachelors degree and possibly continue to a Masters degree in Air Transportation Management. My long-term goal is to become a successful manager within the airline industry.  This scholarship fund will help ease the financial pressures of school, and it will assist me in paying my education expenses this coming winter semester.

Once again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to work toward my goal.

Sincerely,

Quynh Thu Nguyen Thi
