Careers in Aviation Scholarships

Careers in Aviation offers scholarships to advance the future of aviation careers. Scholarship opportunities will support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programs that lead to strengthening the nation's ability to meet the aviation career needs with technological superiority. Scholarships are developed through strategic alliances involving industry, associations, organizations, and the educational community. Students will be provided opportunities that will bring the needed resources to the aviation and space disciplines.

  

Scholarship Overview

Scholarships generally are provided in an amount to be used for academic purposes and paid directly to the university/college of enrollment. Scholarships will specifically define that portion of the education process that maybe considered Financial Aid.

Financial Aid is any amount paid or benefit provided toward educationally related expenses. Educationally related expenses include, but are not limited to: tuition and fees, room and board, books, travel expenses, dependent care, and personal expenses.

Endowment scholarships generally covers the majority of educational expenses, including tuition, living expenses, required fees, and books for the degree chosen (undergraduate or graduate). The amount and duration of endowment awards vary by student based on the cost of attendance, and the length of the program, as well as other scholarships or grants received. The maximum available financial support per student per year is $25,000 and the maximum length for undergraduate is five years and three years for graduate.

Scholarships are offered in five aviation-related career fields and at prior-approved colleges and universities offering aviation-specific degrees. The five aviation career fields:

Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic - Aviation Electronics Technician

Air Traffic Control

Airline Pilot

Business Aviation

Aerospace Engineering

 

Selection Procedures

Only qualified high school students and those in higher education programs are eligible. Eligibility requirements are established by working closely with the sponsoring organization and/or the donor. 

A selection panel for scholarship recipients shall be made by designated panelist that have knowledge of the career area; and/or by panelist from the education community. Careers in Aviation participation on the selection panel will involve professionals with relevant qualifications. Final selection of the scholarship recipient will be made by the panel and not by an individual.

Criteria will be reviewed and approved by the Careers in Aviation Executive Director and Board of Directors prior to acceptance. All scholarship recipients will comply to the agreement and criteria.

 

Evaluation and Qualification

Recipients will be required to provide feedback information at the completion of the academic work that was funded by the scholarship. Proof of satisfactory completion will be required. Failure to provide the feedback information will disqualify the recipient for future assistance. If the student fails to satisfactorily complete the academic work for which the scholarship was awarded they shall be liable to reimburse Careers in Aviation the full financial value received.

 

Ineligible for Scholarships

Unless specifically included in the pool of eligible candidates, elected officers, members of the Board and professional staff of Careers in Aviation and their immediate family members are ineligible to apply for scholarships.
