Financial Planning

Searching and applying for financial aid (i.e. scholarships, grants, etc.) requires planning and resourcefulness. In order to receive the maximum aid your student may be eligible to apply for and possibly receive then a plan must start early on the research for scholarships. Middle school is a perfect time and high school will require prioritize the search.

All students planning to attend a college/university, trade, technical, or vocational school should apply for financial aid. Financial aid is not entirely based on income. There are many awards given to students based on their academic achievements, athletic talents, artistic talents, and other merits.

The steps below will guide you and your student through the entire process, step-by-step. It is divided into 4 Steps. Each step is designed to help you with each phase of the scholarship search and application process.

Sedgwick Hines, alumni of Purdue University, understands the financial hardships students encounter during their enrollment in school. Sedgwick received over $90,000 in the form of scholarships, grants, and fee remissions to help pay for his education and flight training. He recognizes one of the biggest challenges students struggle with is the increasing costs of college tuition, books and supplies, and living expenses.

Much of what you are about to read comes from the valued learning experiences Sedgwick has generously provided. His advice to students is to apply as many scholarships as possible through continuing to meet the eligibility requirements.
